If I am not mistaken, G.rev's president mentioned several months ago that they were working on two new games... and I've been dreaming about them ever since. At long last we'll find out some info about one of them!

G.rev is fucking awesome. I really hope one of the games is Senko no Ronde II, and the other one a brand-new, completely original shooter.

Fingers crossed!

I bet it'll be a whole new game; seems that G.Rev isn't too interested in sequels, at least for now.

I'd love to see this, or even Under Defeat 2... but yeah, a new shooter would be nice to see.

If one of them is a sequel and receives a US release, I'm hoping nobody decides to stick another silly cover or corny new title on it. "WarTech: Senko no Ronde" still makes my cringe every time I see it. Granted, it's not "Mobile Light Force" bad, but still...

I believe that a sequel to Senko is inevitable, and chances are it's coming soon.

This is because Senko is a versus game, and the way versus games work, once you've built up a group of followers you don't just let them go. It's well over two years since Senko was released and people are getting tired of it (it has been a long time since it featured on Arcadia's top ten).

Sequels to Border Down and Under Defeat are quite unlikely, on the other hand. If they are making a pure STG, there's not much reason not to come up with an original title...

I hope they stick to original games for the most part like Cave. Keeps things from getting too stagnant.

Doing a sequel for a Vs. game is reasonable enough of course because as icycalm says you have to maintain the audience.

In other news it appears Tecnosoft might be back. I'd certainly be interested in another Thunderforce, Herzog, or an original title from those guys.

As long as they hire Yasuhisa Watanabe or anyone from sampling masters, I'll be happy :)

I don't think they're pointing to a sequel; my guesses are: A brand new genre like Senko, or a fresh classic shooter like Under Defeat.

By the way, this is a pretty good moment for shooters, guys. First G.Rev, then Hudson reviving the caravans, now Tecnosoft... You hear that Compile!?

This is probably why G.Rev called the Xbox 360 port "Revision X", since they can update their game at any time, and because the balance still isn't as good as in SP yet (I'm not exactly sure as to why), they can just stick to the Xbox 360 port in order to keep fans happy.

But if it is an update to Senko no Ronde, I'd be pretty happy.

Confirmed in the new Arcadia, it will be a vertical shooting game co-developed by G.rev and an unknown company called Garuchi. The title is Mamoru-kun wa Norowareteshimatta! (Mamoru-kun has been cursed!)

Character design: Mizuki Takayama (Senko no Ronde)
BGM: A group of various artists headed by Shinji Hosoe

Too bad you can't see anything in that screenshot, eh?

The official site is now live, and it turns out the co-developer's name is spelled Gulti. The Arcadia interview mentions that Gulti is made up of certain ex-Seibu Kaihatsu (Raiden, Viper Phase 1, Raiden Fighters) staff members. Also, it appears the game will use the same 80-degree image tilt last seen in Under Defeat.

It's also confirmed that it will be a Naomi cart game.

The site updated, looks like a new beta test is coming tomorrow, and the character/story section is open.

Some translations a friend made for my site:

Story

Mamoru: "Huh? Where am I?"

Headlights approached. How long has passed since he thought he had been hit by a car? Mamoru-kun had been blown away to a mysterious world.

Fululu: "Hi, everyone! Welcome to the underworld!"

According to the priestess of the underworld, Jigokudani Fululu, the "chosen spirits" had been summoned to the underworld to save it from danger.

"Don't choose us without asking, asshole!" "Send me back to my world!"

Fululu ignored these complaints and continued speaking.

She spoke of a gate to the dark world that someone was trying to open, and how the residents of the underworld were being cursed. To save the underworld, the people must be uncursed, and the opening of the gate must be prevented.

"Okay, heroes! time to work hard for the sake of the underworld!

Therefore, to return to their worlds, Mamoru and the three others summoned to the underworld began their fight.

Tomoka Mamoru
Likes: Competition, whipped cream
Hates: Losing
Hobbies: Baseball
Spirit element: Lightning

An elementary school student who was summoned by Fululu to the underworld after a traffic accident. He dreams of being a professional baseball player, mostly for the money. He hates to lose, and it was easy for Fululu to manipulate him into saving the underworld.

"I guess I have to try anyway, so I'm going to see it through!"

Miyuki Mayuno
Likes: Snow, flowers
Hates: Spicy food
Hobbies: Getting what she wants
Spirit element: Snow

A mysterious girl who doesn't remember her life before coming to the underworld. She rarely shows emotion, but occasionally does things no one around her expects. She seems to know what she's doing though. If there's one way to describe her, it's that she does things at her own pace. She doesn't seem at all surprised to have been summoned to the underworld.

"I'm sorry, I don't remember very much..."

Narai Kinya
Likes: Motorcycles
Hates: Mathematics
Hobby: Touring
Spirit element: Wind

He used to be a motorcycle loving high school student, but he was suddenly summoned to the underworld while going home from his part-time job. He loved freedom, and speaks with a kansai accent. He's not bad at getting along with people, but he acts on instinct and doesn't cooperate with others. He and Fululu get along like dogs and monkeys (I suppose I would say cats and dogs?), Beniko says they act like a comedy duo.

"I'm going to do it how I want to do it. See you!"

Higatera Beniko
Likes: Music
Hates: All smelly things
Hobbies: Flute recitals
Spirit element: will-o-wisp (literally a fox fire)

An uppity student at a girl's boarding school. She was suddenly summoned in the middle of school. An excellent student, but she has heavy demands on the people around her. She adjusted the fastest to life in the underworld, she seems to enjoy her situation, including naming her will-o-wisp.

"No reason to hold back. Go, Rinka!"

Jigokudani Fululu
Likes: Kompeitō, the divine tree
Hates: Dark places
Hobby: Visiting underworld hot springs

She is a priestess who serves the divine tree which floats in the underworld. it seems she can speak directly to it. With the tree's help, she successfully summoned Mamoru and the others to the underworld. She is the leader of Mamoru's army of justice! (according to her). because she gets so wrapped up in it, she is treated like a mascot by the people around her.

"Okay, we're going to bring peace back to the underworld together!"

Yeah, location test at Club Sega it appears (if Google Translate hasn't fooled me). I'm really looking forward to seeing more from the game.

Screenshots look promising at that size. Very colorful at least.

Yes, much better than the few videos that have been circulating the net earlier this year. They looked awfully dull compared to what G.Rev has put out before. I didn't think much of the Under Defeat videos either though (which turned out to be fantastic), so I'll shut up for a while now. Let's just hope we can trust these guys at Gulti...

I've uploaded two superplay videos torrented from here: http://www.sidecity.org/torrent/

ベニ子7:02ALL
Description: 残7分02秒
beni702.wmv (261 MB)

地獄谷クリア重視
Description: カラクリ→桜→庭園→冥界→最終の非ミッションのルート ふるる使用
クリア重視.zip (257 MB)

Having watched a couple of stages from each video (I don't want to watch the entire thing before I get a chance to play it properly), I can say that this is the most conformist among G.rev's games. It comes closer to classic Cave than anything else they've done, in terms of hitbox size and bullet patterns at least. I've no idea how scoring works.

Seems like a cool game.

I don't think its name is too suitable for the game's theme.
